Let the Panic Begin!!

Just got this sent to me via email the other day . . .

“[T]he prices that we’re paying at the pump today are, I think, going to be ‘the good old days,’ because others who watch this very closely forecast that we’re going to be hitting $12 and $15 per gallon,” Hirsch said. “And then, after that, when oil - world oil production goes into decline, we’re going to talk about rationing. In other words, not only are we going to be paying high prices and have considerable economic problems, but in addition to that, we’re not going to be able to get the fuel when we want it.”

“[Maxwell] expects an oil-induced financial crisis to start somewhere in the 2010 to 2015 timeframe,” Energytechstocks.com reported. “He said that, unlike the recession the U.S. appears to be in today, ‘This will not be six months of hell and then we come out of it.’ Rather, Maxwell expects this financial crisis to last at least 10 or 12 years, as the world goes through a prolonged period of price-induced rationing (eg, oil up to $300 a barrel and U.S. pump prices up to $15 a gallon).”

Now, I don't know if any of this is factual or if it really will be as bad as all that or even if these predictions are verifiable or simply a case of fearmongering . . . however, it does seem that if all this keeps up, then pretty soon, I'm gonna be lookin' like this:

Speedtrap.org

Someone sent this link to me the other day

http://www.speedtrap.org/speedtraps/stetlist.asp

it's about speedtraps - apparently you can check out almost every state. I think this is cool, because I don't see it as something to help speeders avoid the police, I see it as a helpful tool FOR the police, because if someone BELEIVES that a speedtrap exists at a specific place, they are less likely to speed there, regardless of whether or not a speedtrap actually does exist in said location.

Right?

No Cameras Please!

found this somewhere online I don't know where - but I thought it was brilliant! Especially after a few moments when I realised that the white blur at the bottom was the cat's other paw, and I suddenly had the impression that this cat was trying to wave off the cameras as he walked in shame out of the courtroom in some high-profile trial . . .

for cat burglary, perhaps?

Aw, that was too cheap. Forget my words, enjoy the pic!

There! I Said It!

Would celebrities please stop with the freaky plastic surgery already?!

It doesn't make you look any younger, it just makes you look like freaks - goofy carnaval sideshow freaks.

I had an idea to post some pics here, but really, that would be a waste of time and simply churn my stomach even more . . . and besides, we all know it's true.

Albert Einstein Quote of the Day

In a world where every other song is only halfway decent, you have to forget the impossible and simply take pleasure in a handful of cool notes.

(actually, that wasn't from Einstein, but I just thought of it while I was searching for a good picture of Uncle Albert to post here . . . just a moment . . .)

AH yes! Here's a good one:

Now, the actual quote for the day is this:

“Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.”

Now, let's think about this. The magic word here is "unthinking" as in, a blind respect for authority, indicating the people who simply follow and never question. Putting it in context of UA's lifetime you draw of course the correct example, but I was thinking that perhaps, just perhaps, in this time, people have somehow dropped the word "unthinking" and are living the maxim without it.

Respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.

Which is not correct. In fact, it is not even logical. However, we seem to live our lives and our American culture without ANY respect for authority, and I'm not talking about not following traffic laws, I'm talking more about our economic culture - yes folks, I'm talking about working our jobs, in which none of us seems to WANT to work, but we certainly demand our paychecks to be accurate and on time (standards we no longer apply to ourselves).

How I extrapolated all this from Uncle Albert's original quote I don't know; however, I do wish he were alive today, because I would really like to know his opinion on some of these issues.
