Star Trek Regenerated

I had seen part of an epoiside of the Galileo 7 a few months ago, and realized halfway through that it was actually the upgraded original episode. When I forst heard about the "updated" episodes, with new graphics, I was skeptical - I realize that the new generation watching Star Trek has come to expect better special effects than waht was afforded in the 1960's, but those of us who watched thoese shoes on the first run were amazed by those SFX, even though they seem cheesy to today's eyes. But they were great then, and the memories tht they produced, epseically upon repeated viewings throughout the seventies and eighties, where I was able to entice my children and even a few of their children to grow and love the Star Trek.

Then, with the movies and the myriad spinoffs, we now have a universe full of Star Trek, and while the driving foprce of the orignal series (the CHARACTERS) still outshines anything that has come after, the series probablydefinitely needs this makeover.

I saw a commercial today, for another episode, obviously one of the "enhanced" and it seemed like it was doing well to enhance the action - mainly the space scnes - running from Klingons - photon torpedoes flying everywhere, interspersed with the familiar bridge scenes that we all know so well and love.

In my perfect dream world I would be stinking filthy rich and I would have the resources to do this:

Create an in home viewing studio.

Get all the original series, as they were shown, completely original,

and watch them, side by side, while on the other screen is played

the enhanced Star Trek,

so that I could compare/contrast.

Ohh, to be a video critic! Now, that would be a lovely job. To all you video critics out there, is that kind of what it's like, being able to sit around and watch vids all day long? I know the job has its own pressures, but don't you guys and gals just sit around sometimes and think to yourselves, wow! I love having a job hwere I get to just be entertained all day long!

I know I've drifted off topic there, but please, if there is anybody out there who would like to comment on the relative merits of enhanceing the originals - or even if you disagree with it all - maybe believing that thye shouldn't enhance him (perhaops they are destroying the original story as it was told), please, feel free to post a comment or two.

or three,

or nine.
