Valentine's Day

Yesterday I was talking with another guy in the office who mentioned that he felt bad that he hadn't gotten his staff anything for Valentine's Day.

His staff?

I said, "Whoa whoa whoa! You get your WIFE something for Valentine's Day. Not anybody else. You take care of your significant other on the Day of LUUUV."

And that's when it hit me: culture. Our culture is this: Valentine's Day is to get your woman flowers, chocolates (which you will help eat!) and a card on which you try to write something resembling poetry. Also, it is for grade school children to exchange those little cards with whatever current kid favourite is on them, along with those little sweetheart candies that say things like "LUV U" and "BE MINE."

THAT'S our culture.

Or maybe it's just Verble G culture.

Whichever way it is, I hope that everyone had a happy Valentine's Day. Becuase in all honesty, if we all just had a little bit more sweetness/love/passion/ardor in our lives, then the whole world would be a much nicer place to live in.
