Albert Einstein Quote of the Day

In a world where every other song is only halfway decent, you have to forget the impossible and simply take pleasure in a handful of cool notes.

(actually, that wasn't from Einstein, but I just thought of it while I was searching for a good picture of Uncle Albert to post here . . . just a moment . . .)

AH yes! Here's a good one:

Now, the actual quote for the day is this:

“Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.”

Now, let's think about this. The magic word here is "unthinking" as in, a blind respect for authority, indicating the people who simply follow and never question. Putting it in context of UA's lifetime you draw of course the correct example, but I was thinking that perhaps, just perhaps, in this time, people have somehow dropped the word "unthinking" and are living the maxim without it.

Respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth.

Which is not correct. In fact, it is not even logical. However, we seem to live our lives and our American culture without ANY respect for authority, and I'm not talking about not following traffic laws, I'm talking more about our economic culture - yes folks, I'm talking about working our jobs, in which none of us seems to WANT to work, but we certainly demand our paychecks to be accurate and on time (standards we no longer apply to ourselves).

How I extrapolated all this from Uncle Albert's original quote I don't know; however, I do wish he were alive today, because I would really like to know his opinion on some of these issues.
